Why Texas Fashion Lab?

From Douglas Erwin, Co-Founder & Creative Director  

 

I've spent more than 25 years in fashion, beginning with studying Fashion Design at FIT in New York. I went on to design for Abercrombie & Fitch and Alan Flusser, and I led teams creating for Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, and G.H. Bass & Co.

Along the way, I realized that helping designers develop their careers was every bit as meaningful to me as designing the product itself

Watching people I've mentored grow into Senior Designers and Design Directors—and even create brands of their own—has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career

Texas Fashion Lab grew from that experience, and our desire to give some of what we've been given to the next generation  

As a nonprofit, we're creating a runway here in North Texas for young people interested in fashion design, while building a creative community where art, fashion, unique ideas and people come together
